Project Name: Terminal 2W Expansion
Location: DFW International Airport, Texas
Project Description: In 1997, DFW and its tenant airlines committed to constructing additional gates and terminal support facilities, beginning with extending Terminal 2W. In order to allow American Airlines to use these new gates efficiently, access between AA's current operations in Terminals 2E/3E and the new gates in Terminal 2W would be necessary. Ground vehicles carrying baggage, cargo and/or passengers would shuttle quickly between the east and west sides. In order to accomplish this, three bridges and a new baggage road, inside the airport operations area (AOA), was constructed.
Paragon's Role: As Design Consultant, Paragon performed the design of all grading, paving and utility construction for this project, including horizontal and vertical control for the location of roadways, bridges, buildings and related facilities; roadway paving for new ground-level AOA and non-AOA service roads; grading and drainage; utility coordination (DFW Central Utilities/Maintenance, Lone Star Gas, TU Electric, GTE Telephone); water and gas line relocation; coordination of AOA security issues and relocation of AOA fencing and gates; and construction support services. The scope of services included, but was not limited to, civil design, structural design, construction administration, scheduling analysis and traffic control.
