Project Name: Southeast Holding Apron/Taxiway K8 Extension
Location: DFW International Airport, Texas
Project Description:

This project is comprised of design and construction of the Southeast Holding Pad, adding a high-speed exit, Taxiway K8, and a de-icing facility. Relocation of a blast protection wall, a portion of the ARFF road, and an RVR system are also included. The scope includes concrete demolition, excavation, grading, installation of utilities, concrete and asphalt paving, lighting and signage, and pavement marking.

Major items of work include:
- Approximately 100,000 CY of earthmoving.
- Concrete pavement demolition of 22,925 SY.
- Placement of 107,000 SY of 17" and 18" reinforced concrete pavement.
- Placement of 9,165 SY of 24" reinforced concrete pavement.
- Placement of 16,250 SY 7" of continuously reinforced concrete pavement on
   ARFF roads and the de-icing facility.
- Installation of duct banks and conduits for new electrical and communication cables.
- Installation of taxiway lighting and signage.

The project also included relocation of 1,000 feet of blast fence adjacent to the project to accommodate the relocation of the ARFF road. Work included pouring new piers and relocating pilasters and wall panels and modifying support structure.
Paragon's Role: As Construction Management Consultant, Paragon was responsible for preparing phasing drawings, utility drawings, various technical specifications, details, estimates, and constructibility reviews during the design phase of this project. Paragon also provided construction management services and personnel including cost and schedule controls, contract administration, claims management, commissioning, construction project documentation, inspection and airfield escorting.
